28. LOVERS
It started to rain
In the middle of
the shoot
A cold early January
drizzle.
The car was half
mile away
Along a soggy path
With a thirty foot
wide foot deep icy puddle
That must be waded.
But we didn't want
to go back...
An Oregon rain will
stop
If you simply wait
So I wrapped their
naked hearts
In the old orange
Indian blanket Poncho
And they stood there
in the forest
Looking out at me
For twenty minutes.
I put the red leaves
Between their rose
lips.
How like one heart
they seemed...
These two young women
Who love so deep.
